Common Sewer Line Issues

Your sewer line might be hidden underground, but the problems it can cause can be hard to ignore. Here are some of the most common sewer line issues our team has come across over the years:

Large Amounts of Paper Products

Many of the Phoenix Valley’s sewer line issues stem from easily avoidable clogs. Many paper products including paper towels, feminine products and flushable wipes don’t break down enough in water and will become easily stuck in your sewer lines. Luckily, our team of knowledgeable plumbers can usually get these cleared pretty quickly.

Grease, Oil, Fats & Food Waste

Grease, animal fats and cooking oils are not meant to go down your sink. They harden extremely quickly once in your pipes, limiting the space for water to flow freely. This can cause your sewer line to back up fast, and in extreme cases causes cracks, leaks and water damage.

Common sewer line issues our team has encountered include clogs from paper products like paper towels, feminine products, and flushable wipes that don’t break down and easily block lines.

Sediment Build-Up

Sediment can enter your sewer lines via existing cracks and damage in your sewer. Once this sediment starts to build up, it contributes to clogs and further issues, affecting the integrity of your sewer lines and connected plumbing.

Roots

Roots are one of, if not the most, common issue in Arizona, causing cracks, breaks, separations and bellies. A belly occurs when the pipe is no lower pitched right and creates a dip where waste and water accumulates.

Roots will always find a way into your sewer lines whether through hairline cracks or simply by crushing the pipe altogether. It’s almost like something out of a horror movie!
Thankfully we’ve perfected our trenchless sewer repair services to effectively handle and neutralize these issues. Let’s explore it a bit further below.

What is Trenchless Sewer Repair?

Unlike conventional sewer line repair, which often requires digging up your yard, trenchless repair (also known as pipe lining or pipe coating) is a much less invasive option.

Our skilled plumbers clear your sewer lines and apply pipe repair patches from the inside. These patches are made from a flexible material, providing long-lasting protection against future cracks and leaks.

Why Trenchless Sewer Repair?

There are many reason to consider trenchless sewer repair over traditional options, including:

  • Minimal disruption due to its less invasive nature.
  • It’s cost effective.
  • It saves time.
  • And it’s minimal impact on the environment.

Ok, those are fantastic benefits right? But how exactly does it work?

The Rainforest Process

When you call Rainforest Plumbing & Air for your trenchless sewer repair, you’re in good hands, because each repair starts with a thorough assessment.

Evaluation

During your assessment your personalized plumber will carefully examine your sewer line using a specialized camera. This camera accurately spots clogs, internal and external damage, corrosion and leaks. Your plumber will take notes throughout the video inspection on the material, age and condition of your pipes to quickly give you the best repair options. You’ll then be presented with a comprehensive quote best suited to your repair needs.

Due to the urgency of sewer line repair, we guarantee to have this quote to you immediately after your initial assessment.

Recommendation

All trenchless sewer repair recommendations are thoroughly explained. Plus they consider the age and condition of your connecting pipes, the severity of the damage, the layout of your yard, vicinity to the street, and all local building codes.

Finally, with Rainforest’s Up-Front Guarantee the price you’re quoted is the price you pay. You’ll always be fully briefed on the scope of work before any repair is started.

Hey, we like to be thorough, what can we say?

Our team of plumbers is proud to offer same-day, 24/7 emergency repair which means we can get to work the moment you give us the green light.

Your personal plumber will arrive onsite and repair your sewer line within 24-48 hours, depending on the severity of the issue. Trenchless sewer repair is faster when compared to traditional methods, but we always make sure to maintain a clean and efficient working environment with minimal impact to your day to day activities.

During the repair, you’ll be updated every step of the way. Your plumber will explain the installation of the pipe liner that seals over any existing damage or cracks, mitigating future leaks, and any troubleshooting after the repair work has been completed.

And with our exclusive Put Back Policy, you’ll rest easy knowing that when we clean up, we actually clean up. Leaving your space better than we found it, guaranteed!

Limitations & Considerations of Trenchless Sewer Line Repair

Ok, so by now trenchless sewer repair may seem like a no brainer. But there are some key considerations to keep in mind.

Severely Collapsed Pipes

If your sewer line has completely collapsed or is too damaged, trenchless repair isn’t going to do much for you. In these extreme cases, traditional excavation is often required to remove the broken sections and install new piping.

Older homes in the Phoenix area may have piping made from cast-iron which can be prone to cracking, rust and leaks. If our video sewer inspection shows cast-iron piping with dips or bellies, a full replacement may be suggested.

But if it appears to be in relatively good condition it’s actually a great candidate for pipe coating and lining.
If you’re not sure if trenchless repair is a good fit for your home, don’t hesitate to give us a call!  We’ll help walk you through alternative options and any other questions you might have.
